The Devil’s Rejects

The Devil’s Rejects. Rob Zombie, 2005.
😿
Edition screened: Lions Gate ‘Unrated 2-Disc Director’s Cut’ DVD, released 2005. English language. Runtime approximately 109 minutes.

Summary: Brief displays of hillbilly-chic carcasses.

Details:
1) Upon entering the compound of the Firefly family, one passes through a ranch-style gate decorated with an obviously fake pig’s head, 3:29-3:40 and again at 1:05:55-1:05:57.
2) A pheasant is seen hanging from the porch of the house, 1:06:13-1:06:15.

Despite the decorative pig head and dead pheasant, director Rob Zombie still gets Bonus Points for depicting the violent idiocy so patriotically defended in rural America without sinking to cheap animal slaughter porn as a mainstream film would.

The dead animals on the front porch are unfortunate concessions, necessary to suggest something of the real homes one routinely passes when driving through western Pennsylvietnam or some similar area full of the Power of Pride and Prejudice.
