Moonshine Mountain and Two Thousand Maniacs! probably are Lewis’s best films, TTM! being more famous, more polished on some evaluative scale Lewis shares only with Carlos Tobalina, and containing the typical gore for which Lewis is famous. But Moonshine Mountain should not be missed, with interesting musical performances and a current of sexual energy that is equally successful and troubling.
