Summary: Prolonged depictions of murdered animals.
Details:
1) Display of game animals, 24:00-25:30.
2) Skinning and butchering of an ox, 1:27:34-1:32:22. The last two minutes of the scene show a man hacking the snout off of the huge disembodied head.
3) Horrible, stagnant view of the snoutless head on the ground, 1:34:07-1:34:24.
4) Again with the mutilated ox head, 1:42:35-1:43:10.
5) Bloody dead rabbit hanging by its legs, 1:58:53-1:59:05.
6) Close-up of the rabbit’s bleeding head, 2:14:05-2:14:26.
The style and visual structure of the film hinge on prolonged shots with little or no movement. The mutilated ox head is extremely gruesome, made more difficult to view because the shots seem to never end.
