Perhaps the only thing less entertaining than listening to some self-absorbed blowhard talk about how stoned or drunk he was, is listening to a comedian deliver a rehearsed routine about how stoned or drunk he was. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas provides a unique opportunity to evaluate those options qualitatively as both strains interweave for two monotonous hours.

Supplements included with the Criterion release include the BBC feature documentary Fear and Loathing on the Road to Hollywood with Hunter S. Thompson and Ralph Steadman (Nigel Finch, 1978).
