Reserve these Mexican Period Buñuel films for times when you are in good spirits, ready to enjoy witty film, and willing to recognize that they are easily understood. That is, do not watch them with someone who needs to say “What kind of drugs were they on?” every five minutes to cover, expose, and celebrate parochialism.
