Naked Lunch

Naked Lunch. David Cronenberg, 1991.
😿
Edition screened: Criterion Blu-ray #220, released 2013. English language. Runtime approximately 118 minutes.

Summary: Scenes of killing fantasy insects.

Lysergic plot points of Naked Lunch include the manufacturing of drugs from the bodies of 6-foot-long centipedes, and interaction with creatures that are half-cockroach, half-typewriter. There are recurring scenes of the giant centipedes being butchered or otherwise processed, killing of other fantasy insects, and of the typewriter-roaches being smashed and otherwise killed.

It seems unnecessary to enumerate specifically these scenes and so I will. The depictions are shocking in their fantastic perversity, not in realistic brutality. Anyone mature enough to watch and even partially comprehend Naked Lunch also is old enough to understand that no real violence to animals is being suggested.

Details:
1) Giant cockroach smashed with shoe: 15:10-15:17
2) Grinding of giant centipede: 34:41-35:47
3) Large centipede falls to floor and dies: 52:20-52:37
4) One giant cockroach/typewriter creature kills another 57:00-58:10.
