Careful. Guy Maddin, 1992.
😿
Edition screened: Zeitgeist ‘Remastered and Repressed’ DVD, released 2009. English language with English intertitles. Runtime approximately 100 minutes.

Summary: Staged images of dead animals
Details:
1) A large egg is retrieved from a nest, followed at 36:30 by a 4-second shot of a large, fetal-looking bird carcass in a frying pan. It seems intended to resemble a decorated rubber chicken, and succeeds in that intent.
2) Depiction of numerous geese falling from the sky after being shot, 1:12:00-1:12:08, and the bodies arranged on the ground, 1:21:26.
3) Unrealistic depiction of a mountain goat falling to its death, 1:29:56-1:29:58.

Watch, listen and be careful.

The Zeitgeist DVD also contains Noam Gonick’s excellent 1-hour documentary showing Guy Maddin at work, Waiting for Twilight (1997), and Maddin’s astounding short tribute to the work of French painter Odilon Redon, The Eye Like a Strange Balloon Mounts Toward Infinity (1995), both free of violence to animals.
