Alien Resurrection. Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 1997.
😿
Edition screened: 2003 Special Edition, included in 20th Century Fox Alien Anthology 6-Blu-ray box set, released 2010. English language. Runtime approximately 111 minutes.
Summary: Shooting of a spider.
Details: At 1:17:40 Ron Perlman shoots a small spider with a pistol at point-blank range. The context is that Perlman has just successfully defeated a horrifying Alien while hanging by his ankles over a pit of death. He then turns, sees the little spider, screams like a girl, and blasts. It is as hilarious as it sounds.
This entire film easily can be skipped without damaging one’s enjoyment of the Alien franchise. By my count, the spider shooting scene is failed sight gag 26 of 45, as a subset of the 151 failed comedy elements.
The Alien Resurrection Blu-ray disc in this box set also contains the original 1997 theatrical cut of the film, approximately 7 minutes shorter if that helps.
