28 Days Later

28 Days Later. Danny Boyle, 2002.
😿😿
Edition screened: 20th Century Fox DVD, released 2003. English language. Runtime approximately 113 minutes.

Summary: Lab animal abuse.

Details:
The first 5 ½ minutes of the film depict a break-in at a laboratory where chimpanzees are subjected to sensory and physical experimentation, including the expected images of a chimp strapped down to a table with probes on his head, and other chimps driven into rages by their small glass cages. Several chimps attack humans in the lab and are beaten down with stools and similar objects.
It is very easy to skip this entire introduction, which merely explains the source of the deadly infection that motivates the film. If you so choose, simply begin watching at the 28 Days Later title screen at 0:05:30. By doing so you miss the scenes of mild chimp torture, the alarmed exposition that the chimps “are infected!” and the slightly bloody combat between a few chimps and humans. The remainder of the film is a zombie-like horror drama with no further animal action.
